Corina Lopez 

Regional Member, north | City of San Leandro 

Lopez grew up in a migrant farm working family that eventually settled in the Salinas Valley.  She attended the Head Start program and public schools through high school.  She is the first in her immediate family to go to college attending Princeton University.  In her 30s, she returned to school and received a Certificate in Finance awarded with distinction from the University of California, Berkeley.  While on the Council, she has completed a fellowship program with WELL (Water Education for Elected Latino Leaders) Untapped.

Lopez is a successful businesswoman of over 25 years with a strong academic, professional, and practical experience in finance.  Prior to returning to California to be with her family, she had a career on Wall Street as an equity analyst.  Through expatriate positions, she has traveled and worked extensively throughout the world.  Lopez is currently a co-founder and partner of a San Leandro based IT Management Consulting firm in its 11th year of business.  While on the Council, she has spoken at conferences (i.e. NALEO) and has lobbied before Congress in the field of technology as a leader in municipal broadband and Smart City solutions. 

Beginning as a park and neighborhood advocate in San Leandro over 15 years ago, Lopez now serves as Vice Mayor representing District 5 on the Council since 2014.  Previously, she served as a Trustee for the San Leandro Unified School District.  Lopez has the distinction of being the first person from the Latino community to be elected to the City Council.  Her distinctions also include receiving Assemblymember Rob Bonta’s Equity Champion Award in 2017 as well as the City of San Leandro Proclamation of Corina Lopez Day in 2013.  Lopez has served as an elected member of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee representing AD18 since 2012. Lopez also was elected to the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party.  In her spare time, Lopez enjoys being with family, ballroom dancing, nature, traveling and reading.
