Daniel Parra
Regional Member, Central | City of Fowler
I was born on July 12, 1965 in the city of Fowler to Gonzalo and Joaquina Parra. My parents raised my siblings and me in the small agricultural community of Parlier. I lived in Parlier until I joined the United State Air Force in 1985 at the age of 19. That fall, I came home on leave and married my high school sweetheart, Sandra. In December 1990, we bought our first home and settled in Fowler. October 2009, my wife and I will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary along with our children Daniel, 16 and Danielle, 11.
My name is Daniel Thomas Parra. I have been employed by Northrop Grumman as site lead at NAS Lemoore for 17 years. In May 2005, I received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from National University and in May 2007, I received a Master Degree in Public Administration. I am a councilman for the City of Fowler and am active in other community organizations such as: the Fowler Lion’s Club, the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus, and president of the Fowler NFL Flag Football League, which has a membership of 120 kids, ages 6-12. In addition, I am the Fresno County Representative for the South San Joaquin Valley District of the League of California Cities and am a member of the Transportation Committee of the League of California Cities.
I firmly believe that it is important to give back to one’s community by helping others and being a role model who makes a positive impact on the lives of others. We go through life dreaming and planning for our future, but life has many unexpected detours which affect the decisions we make. Some of us are fortunate and realize our dreams, but there are many who never do. I am one of those fortunate persons. It took a lot of hard work and perseverance, but I did it with the help and support of those who I looked up to. Now it is my turn to help and support the members of my community.
The Central Valley has been my home my whole life and I understand the needs and problems that face Latino communities. My life experiences and education have given me the knowledge to help others and give back to my community. I hope my contributions make a positive impact on those I serve.
